Yufilia von Harmonia

Sixteen years old. 162 cm.

Silver hair with a faint purple-tinged sky-blue eyes. Beauty said to be the incarnation of the moon goddess, yet she deceives people with an innocent, harmless smile. Even among nobles, she is hailed as the very model of a refined lady.

She looks gentle and soft, but she is shrewd and thick-skinned. Occasionally super dry.

In truth, she is extremely curious and good at studying. Aiming for the national first-class alchemist qualification for her future; she later passes it.

Born the daughter of a count, but caught the eye of the Emperor of Zainglow and became Empress. She is Yorha’s mate and receives his full devotion, yet she often has to rein in her runaway husband.

Ian von Harmonia

Yufilia +22 years. 180 cm.

Current head of the Count Harmonia family. Silver hair, red eyes. Slightly intimidating face, medium build.

Dotes on Alice; basically neglected the low-maintenance Yufilia. “Oh right, I had an eldest daughter.”

Blinded by the fortune he would gain by offering Yufilia to Zainglow, he incurred the displeasure of both the royal family and Zainglow. After the marriage, Yufilia formally cut ties with him.

Sophia von Harmonia

Yufilia +24 years. 159 cm.

Countess. Light brown hair, violet eyes. Older-wife type who adores Ian.

Tended to follow Ian’s lead, so she did the bare minimum or less for Yufilia.

After Yufilia left the house, things gradually fell apart.

Spoiled Alice became even worse and unmanageable, leading to disownment, but it was far too late to mend things with Yufilia.

She thought she loved both daughters in her own way, yet one cut her off and the other self-destructed. The Alice incident broke her mentally; due to problematic behavior, she and Ian now live in seclusion for treatment.

Alice von Harmonia

Yufilia −2 years. 150 cm.

Yufilia’s younger sister. Slightly chubby, light brown hair, red eyes. Cute in a way, but extremely selfish.

The youngest child, spoiled rotten by Ian and Sophia.

Frequently faked illness to get attention.

She did run slight fevers easily as a child, but learned she could become number one by pretending to be sick and abused it.

Alice is reasonably pretty, but pales before Yufilia’s excellence and devastating beauty; she harbors intense inferiority complex.

Openly pities her sister for marrying into the beastman country while secretly mocking her.

She knows nothing of how many beautiful beastmen exist and assumes it’s a poor, furry backwater.

Engaged to Elrios, but that became the trigger for the family to abandon her; her life spirals downward.

Jealous that her sister married a beautiful emperor, she plots kidnapping and fails. Executed.

Bryce von Harmonia

Yufilia +3 years. 180 cm.

Yufilia’s older brother. Thin-framed glasses. Silver hair, red eyes. Good and bad, he takes after Ian; forgot about Yufilia and doted on Alice like a cat.

When arranging political marriages, he judged the beautifully grown Yufilia more useful than Alice.

Less blindly doting than his parents, he vaguely noticed Alice’s fake illnesses but ignored them because it was troublesome. Yufilia was obedient, so he turned a blind eye to the burden pushed onto her.

Disillusioned with the collapsing family, he is now determined to rebuild House Harmonia himself.

He has no face to show Yufilia anymore and intends never to visit her again.

Elrios von Axel

Yufilia +2 years. 175 cm.

Orange hair, amber eyes (brown to orange range). Medium build.

Well-featured, but his slovenly personality leaks through and ruins the impression.

Yufilia’s former fiancé, third son of Duke Axel. Since his eldest brother inherits the dukedom, he is set to inherit a separate count title and territory owned by the family.

Serial cheater; took Yufilia for granted because “we’ll marry anyway,” only to have her snatched away and fall into crisis.

Yufilia handles everything perfectly and is the ideal noble lady even at a young age; he boasted about her yet felt something was missing.

Their relationship was shallow, so he never saw her true nature.

He fooled around with Alice under the pretext of “future little sister-in-law.”

When he heard Yufilia was going to Zainglow, he panicked and tried to stop it, but it was too late.

In the end, everything fell apart and he sank as low as one can go.

Yorha (Night Lord)

Appears early twenties. 192 cm.

Eyes that look both amber and gold. Owl-like hair mixed white, black, and brown in a unique pattern. Tall and well-built.

Intimidatingly handsome, but sharp-eyed. As a bird tribe member, excellent eyesight and hearing; as an owl, good night vision too.

Always dressed impeccably, wearing jackets or scarves woven with fluffy feathers.

Yufilia’s first impression: “Huge yet has no presence; what a mysterious guy.”

Head of the Bird Tribe among the Twelve Zodiac Tribes. Owl beastman. Known as the King of the Night Forest.

Fundamentally strong = tribe head & clan leader. Beastmen can roughly sense strength from presence alone.

Came to Mistlutin looking for a bride, but none satisfied him. Snuck out at night for a mood-lifting flight.

Bird tribe loves shiny things; fell in love at first sight with Yufilia’s beautiful silver hair and sky-blue eyes.

Moonlit silver hair caught his eye from above.

※For beastmen, hair = fur/feather condition; beautiful hair/feathers are preferred. Bird tribe especially loves sparkly things.

While admiring her in bird form from the sky, he crashed into a building, knocked himself out, and fell; Yufilia sheltered him.

Received treatment still in owl form and thought: “Pretty! Kind! Smart! I love her!!!”

True to owl beastman custom, he gave her a feather as proposal.

Yufilia didn’t know bird (owl) courtship customs, so she simply said “Thank you for the beautiful feather” = Yorha interpreted as “Wonderful person, I gladly accept.”

Believing the proposal succeeded, he returned to human form and rejoined the Zainglow bride-seeking delegation.

After that, he relentlessly demanded “Give me Yufi, Yufi, Yufi,” successfully stole the engaged Yufilia, and took her home.

Later, people knowledgeable about humans told him “She didn’t realize it was a proposal,” shocking him and making him realize it was one-sided love; he began fierce appeals.

After marriage, finally thinking he had locked her down—no, his love only grew heavier as he tried to make his mate indulge in him completely.

Shinra

168 cm. 78 years old.

Head of the Snake Tribe. Iguana beastman. Quite elderly, white hair and beard, kindly old man.

Possesses phantom-beast rank. Loves sweets; his hobby is sweets-touring dates with his sweet-toothed mate (wife).

Currently third in Zainglow hierarchy.

Actually the emperor two generations ago.

Kokuran

185 cm. 41 years old.

Head of the Dog Tribe. Jackal beastman. Black hair, brown skin. Sturdy and tall.

Rough demeanor but big-brother type, looks after others.

Has a mate (wife) and a wolf-beastman son.

Currently second in Zainglow hierarchy.

Actually the previous emperor.

Glen

176 cm.

Kokuran’s son. Dog tribe, spirit-beast rank. Hates restrictions, always wears disheveled clothes.

Crimson-gold hair, deep-crimson eyes, brown skin. Self-admitted and widely known womanizer.

Due to certain events, he developed special feelings for Yufilia, but that first love was instantly crushed by Yorha.

Hiyou

171 cm. 46 years old.

Gray hawk beastman. Gray hair, bright yellow eyes.

Barely spirit-beast rank—honestly pretty weak. Former second-in-command of the ambitious Bird Tribe.

Flashy tastes, nouveau-riche vibe. Has feathers from wrist to shoulder blade.

Demoted and dismissed for rudeness toward Yufilia.

Tries to push his daughter Fuuka toward Yorha to become consort.

Fuuka

167 cm. 22 years old.

Hawk beastman. Grayish-brown hair, bright yellow eyes. No rank. Deep-carved, sensual beauty.

Decent dancer. Cool, almond-shaped eyes are her trademark. Feathers from wrist to forearm.

Has long aimed for the divine-beast Yorha and still hasn’t given up. Hostile toward Yufilia because of it.

Selfish and extravagant. Convinced she will become Yorha’s wife.

Mion

175 cm. 24 years old.

Long black hair, black rounded ears (horn-ear type), pale green eyes. Neat, androgynous beauty with single eyelids.

Black-panther beastman appointed as Yufilia’s guard. Among spirit-beast rank, specialized in combat; extremely strong.

Wears scarlet torso wrap and jade-ornamented gold belt buckle; gives off dashing female warrior vibe (high-ranking officer).

Has two younger brothers among colleagues. Responsible type.

Kuon

18 years old. 170 cm.

Black hair, pale green eyes. Hair clip on the right. Leon’s twin (older brother).

Mion’s younger brother. Black-panther beastman embarrassed by his rounded ears.

Extremely strong even without rank.

Getto

Head of the Rabbit Tribe. Light-brown fur, wild-rabbit appearance. Looks almost entirely like a rabbit.

Often uses his cute looks to let negotiation partners lower their guard.

Information broker and born merchant with his own trade routes.

Has a tanuki-beastman grandchild.

Tamari

5 years old. 43 cm.

Fluffy fur is his pride; tanuki beastman who naturally acts calculated-cute. Getto’s blood runs thick.

Good at transformation magic; mimics Getto in almost full tanuki style. Speech slightly slurred.

By the way, in human form he still has a proper tanuki tail.

[Mistlutin Kingdom]

By tradition, every few decades young people are sent as brides to the neighboring Zainglow Empire. Sometimes one, sometimes several, but never many.

Number decided by Zainglow’s request.

Bride requirements: healthy, mid-teens to mid-twenties, high-ranking noble lady. Rarely grooms are requested instead.

Yufilia barely qualified as high nobility and was chosen.

Brides receive enormous dowry and celebratory gifts from both home country and destination.

A human kingdom delicately powerless, sandwiched by great power Médail in the south, beastman den Zainglow Empire in the north, and harsh mountains east and west.

Survives on trade of magical stones and monster materials from Zainglow and processed goods from Médail.

The Zainglow-backed Zain Mountains are called the Mountains of Death, crawling with vicious monsters and serving to check Médail, so refusing Zainglow’s requests is difficult.

Alchemy flourishes; national qualifications exist with different privileges per grade.

[Zainglow Empire]

Nation ruled by dragonkin, beastmen, and other demi-humans.

The Twelve Zodiac Tribes—beastman tribes based on the Chinese zodiac—are the main ruling class.

These tribes equate to human nobility but are closer to spirits or phantom beasts.

Extremely high physical ability, long life, special powers.

Because of this, reproduction is difficult. Blood runs thick; they cannot choose mates of the same species or same rank.

Atmosphere is Asian-inspired. Clothing is Japanese/Chinese style.

No noble class per se, but absolute strength hierarchy: common beastman < spirit beast < phantom beast < sacred beast < divine beast.

[Médail Empire]

Human-centric military nation. Humanoid supremacist; tends to despise beastmen with beast traits as inferior.

Strong magic users are valued.

Magic and magical tools are major industries.

Long-standing bitter enmity with Zainglow.

[About Beastmen]

Rare powerful individuals are born among the Twelve Zodiac Tribes; they almost always take human brides or grooms.

Instincts are strong, so mates are chosen from species far removed from their own.

Mistlutin is chosen because it best understands Zainglow customs in the region.

Occasionally travelers are taken, but given the location, maybe one every few hundred years.

Though named after the zodiac, classification is fairly rough; often grouped by similar habitat or appearance.

Small or herbivorous beastmen especially tend to live mixed together in one area rather than as single species.

Base human form + ears, tails, horns, etc., enough to tell the animal.

Some are almost fully beast; those range from child to adult human size.

Common beastmen have one form; spirit-beast and above can transform into beast shape. Sacred and divine beasts can additionally grow gigantic.

Hierarchy & Current Heads

1st: Bird Tribe – Yorha (Divine beast – Owl)

2nd: Dog Tribe – Kokuran (Phantom beast – Jackal) ← Glen’s father

3rd: Snake Tribe – Shinra (Phantom beast – Iguana) extremely elderly grandpa

The rest of the heads are spirit-beast class, so they’re lumped together. Yorha is clearly head and shoulders above, but he has no desire to rule, so Kokuran and Shinra handle coordination and leave final decisions to Yorha.

[Spirit Tree]

A sentient giant tree. Residence of Yorha and Yufilia. Bigger on the inside.

Brings abundance to surroundings but chooses which humans may approach. Even stricter about who may live inside.

The spirit tree at Yorha’s manor likes Yufilia more than its master Yorha.

[Shukin Castle]

A water palace in another dimension. Characterized by vermilion pillars and black tiles. Glows crimson-gold at sunrise and sunset, exactly as the name suggests.

Place where state affairs, politics, and ceremonies are conducted.

Directly connected to Yorha’s home (the spirit tree).
