Kalia trained her clan to fight, their storm-Threads steadier. Toren brewed potions in a makeshift camp, his sarcasm sharper since losing his shop. Vynne scouted, her wings catching firelight, but even she seemed tense.

“The glow’s stronger,” she reported, pointing to a crater where lava pulsed like veins. “Something’s buried there. Feels… alive.”

Sora’s gauntlet thrummed, matching the crater’s rhythm. “Another Relic,” he said. “Maybe answers.”

Kalia frowned. “Or a trap. Voidsingers aren’t stupid—they’ll follow.”

Toren tossed a vial, smirking. “Then we spring it first.”

The crater’s edge was unstable, rocks melting underfoot. Sora led, his gauntlet absorbing stray flames to shield the group. At the center, a pedestal held a Relic—a circlet, its gems swirling with elemental hues. Sora reached for it, but the gauntlet screamed, cracking further. A vision hit: Valthera’s core-machine, now fracturing, and a figure in shadow—the Architect—laughing. “Reclaimer, you fuel the end,” it said.

Sora staggered, Vynne catching him. “What’d you see?”

“Trouble,” he gasped. “This circlet’s tied to my gauntlet. And something called the Architect.”

Before they could grab it, the ground erupted. Voidsingers—dozens, led by the captain from the Voidspire—surrounded them. A riftbeast, serpentine and wreathed in void, slithered at her side. “The Relics belong to the Architect,” she snarled. “Surrender, Riftbound.”

Kalia’s blades sparked. “Not happening.”

The fight was chaos. Vynne’s arrows pinned singers, Toren’s bombs lit the dark, and Kalia’s storm tore through ranks. Sora’s gauntlet devoured void and fire, but each use widened its crack, pain searing his arm. He glitched the beast’s tail into stone, slowing it, but the captain countered, her spear grazing Toren.

Sora roared, diving into Pattern Break’s chaos. He warped the crater’s lava into a wall, shielding Toren. Kalia joined him, her storm syncing with his glitches, scattering singers. Vynne snagged the circlet, tossing it to Sora. It fused with his gauntlet, stabilizing it—pain eased, power surged. He unleashed a wave—fire, storm, void—driving the enemy back.

The captain fled, the beast retreating. Sora sank to his knees, the circlet’s gems dimming. Kalia’s clan cheered, but he felt no victory. The Architect’s voice lingered: “You fuel the end.”

Toren clapped his back. “Not bad, gamer. What’s next?”

Sora stood, gauntlet heavier but steady. “Find the Architect. Stop the rifts.”

Vynne grinned, wings flaring. “Got a skiff nearby. North’s got more isles—more Relics, maybe.”

Kalia met Sora’s eyes, fierce but warm. “We’re with you. No matter what.”

As they boarded Vynne’s skiff, Sora looked south, where Valthera’s core pulsed in his mind. The Architect was waiting, and his gauntlet was both key and curse. He wasn’t a hero—not yet—but he’d reclaim this world, one rift at a time.
